No one style is off-limits for Blue Sinatra. The band's energy and ability to get a crowd jumping are amazing." Origivation Magazine (2006).
Blue Sinatra is a smooth blend of many kindred styles -- rock, disco, soul and everything that makes you want jump out of your seat. Their diverse lineup is reminiscent of bands like the rhythmic "Sly and the Family Stone" to the over the top exploits of "Prince and the Revolution," but their sound remains fresh and original. Their mantra: catchy songs, deep grooves and the desire to inspire the crowds to get down.
Blue Sinatra’s infectious melodies, keen songwriting, and fresh hooks keep even the most discernible listeners attentive for their entire show. They burst onto the Philadelphia music scene in 2003 with their upbeat and high-energy live shows. They quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting bands in Philly, with shows all around town including the Grape St Pub, the Khyber, North Star, The Fillmore, and a sold out show at World Café Live just to name a few. Two of their songs have been featured on the popular independent online comedy web series “We Need Girlfriends” produced by Ragtag Productions. Blue Sinatra has been featured on 88.5, 93.7, 91.7 and 104.5 in Philadelphia as well as many other stops on your radio dial. They were asked by XPN to close the stage at the All About the Music Festival where they whipped a crowd of thousands into a dancing frenzy and were chosen one of the festivals best acts. Their track "Penny's Down the Lane" has been a favorite of the station since its release. Once Blue Sinatra gained the respect and loyalty of the ears of Philadelphia, they toured colleges all over the Mid-Atlantic region, from New York to Virginia and gained hundreds of new fans.
Their fans are their lifeblood, a slew of frenzied people from all walks of life that found the band on Myspace (they have over 250 hits a day), Last.fm, YouTube, and of course at one of the band’s energetic live shows. You can see the same dancing bodies and singing faces at many of their shows, sometimes on the same stage even. It was partly due to the support from their fans that they were able to play with some of the biggest names in music today including Gym Class Hero’s, My Morning Jacket and Citizen Cope. Their fans come out in droves to party with them at their ongoing monthly New York performance at Wicked Willy’s on Bleecker Street, as well as many other shows across the east coast.
Blue Sinatra was formed by long time friends Greg Harrigan (singer, keyboards, guitar, and principal songwriter) and drummer, Mike Garth in a small row home in south Philly in the winter of 2002. In 2005 they added sax player and wild man Steve Bickel, and brought on the talented Charlie Ortiz on guitar. The newest member of the group is a fresh faced multi-instrumentalist Corey Bonser who rounds out their sound on bass. With two CD’s (Velvet Gold and MOVE) under their belt, the newly revitalized band decided to go into the studio with indie-producer extraordinaire, Brian McTear, in January of 2008. The new tracks, being released solely online, mark a new age and sound for Blue Sinatra. It is lush, refined, and definitely worth checking out live!
